Torn Jacket
“During the Oireachtas which was held in Cork in 1985 a great friend of mine, Déaglán Tallon, got first prize for a newly composed song as Gaeilge. The following day I convinced him that in the excitement that ensued that he had torn my jacket. Déaglán wholeheartily believed this and was very concerned and anxious over his misdemeanour. When I admitted my practical joke he was very amused and said it would be a great name for a tune. He was right!”
An Casóg Stractha
“Le linn an Oireachtais a bhí ar bun i gCorcaigh sa bhliain 1985, bhuaigh cara liom DéaglánTallon an chéad duais d’amhrán nua-chumtha i nGaeilge. An lá dar gcionn, chuireas abhaile air gur strac sé mo chasóg sa cheiliúradh a lean an bua sin. Chreid Déaglán an scéal go hiomlán agus bhí sé an-bhuartha faoin méid a shíl sé a bhí déanta aige. D’admhaíos gur ag magadh a bhíos agus shíl sé go raibh an eachtra ar fad aerach go maith – dúirt sé gur ainm maith do phort a bheadh ann, bhí an ceart aige.”
